As an update, I reported Mr. Petrone, Mr. Page and Markari Law Firm to the FTC and the FCC. Having read through the FDCPA document I discovered that my rights were violated when Mr. Petrone told 2 other individuals why he was looking for me.

I hate that these bottom feeders can harass innocent people and terrify their families. My poor mother was so upset she couldn't sleep before her overnight shift. I will pursue a personal lawsuit if these people continue the harassment. I am done. I made mistakes with my credit, but I am being very careful and paying off legitimate debt as I can and I will NOT be bullied ever again.

It's been an interesting journey with Mr. Petrone and as I now find out the Mark Carey Law Firm. It is amazing to me that Mr. Petrone who works for this firm was unable to give my mother the correct spelling of his place of employment while he was terrifying her with threats of sending me to jail.

~after doing a google search I have discovered Mr. Carey's law firm has been in trouble for unfair debt collection practices in New York. I have now also filed a complaint with the Vermont State Attorney General's Office. I will be updating my FTC and FCC complaints with the proper spelling and address for Mr. Carey's law firm.

I was contacted by the same person Louis Petrone and Jeff Page on Feb 18 2010; I was told the same as you..I think Louis and Jeff is the same person..I have reported them or him to the FTC...

I spoke with a Ms Hall today from Carey Law Firm; she stated that Mr Petrone was escorted out of the office and fired for his way he handled calls to people; she said he is not an investigater or officer; she said that he was fired do to the complaints that they have been getting...Due to the fact that they have been reported to AG and FTC...Will see what will come of it..

My dad was a lawyer and he typed EVERYTHING...and would certainly have typed something as important as this.

I think Mr Carey is the same person as Louise Petrone. I think he is the one making the calls and using different numbers and names..After I spoke to Ms Hall and told her i would not disscusse or give any money over the phone. Until I received info from them showing the debt valdation. She said she would fax and email the info and I still havent recieve anything from them... I also told her that I reported Mr Petrone and the law firm to the federal trade commission and the attorney generals office....

I know the Mark Carey you are all speaking about. Louis Petrone and him ARE infact two different people. As for the hand-written letter, his hand must be hurting him dearly if he is apologizing for all the complaints they have received! Go get him!

I got the same calls....they even did a search on me an called my next door neighbors syaing that i had bad checks and didn't...First, i got a Rachel then she put me thru to a Jeff...telling me they are going to serve me with court papers and serve my friends with this paper...i told him to send me documentation proving this...he said he would...it has been a week and nothing....making threats...He said his name is Jeff and he is an investigator...My husband filed a complaint with FCC and AG....

In addition to reporting the Mark Carey "Law Firm" to the usual agencies (FCC, AG etc) Also report them to the NY State Bar Association:

Dont talk to these people, if they catch you on the phone tell them to "Cease and Desist" and report them to all the agencies each time they contact you after that.

They arent good enough to be even "bottom feeders" how they can live with themselves for what they do to people is beyond me. They are the ones committing fraud, not us. They violate so many laws including the Fair Debt collections. They think they are above the law and its up to us to keep them below the dirt. I have had it with people like them and I am going to research & see what more we can do, maybe its time Washington got more involved in putting an end to them. I know this can take a long time, but I am at the point where I know something more has to be done about them.....

These people keep calling me and my parents. The woman who call, Mrs. Somers, phone number 214-306-5654. She says she wants to have the sheriffs serve me with court papers. She says I am going to be charged with a felony!! But I can avoid that if I pay them $900 immediately. She continues to harass me. I don't know what to do.

What a nightmare. CAll your lawyer and have them served /with summons. Play on a field where all have equal "rights" the courts.
