I am 25 and I had a good paying job that i lost. My new job is makeing half of what i use to make. I am really getting behind in my bills. If i can get caught up and get a few paid off i will be fine. I have gotten help from my parents in the past, and i need to be a man and do things on my own. Do u guys have any advice on maybe a loan company that can help me get my debt down to one low monthly payment? And also i have not so great credit :(

benofied, why don't you check out debt consolidation first and see what they can do and have to offer before you go get another loan. It may be just what you need and to be honest with you, from my own experience, its never good to get a loan to pay off a loan. I'll admit, its tempting. But so many people here, including myself, have gotten loans to pay off loans and get themselves right back into trouble [PLUS some] because then not only do you have the one loan that you got to pay everything off with, but it opened you up to where you could go acquire more credit and now have all that to pay too. And no matter how much you tell yourself that you're not going to do that, you almost always end up doing it. We did this very thing, we took out a second mortgage. We paid everything off, had one payment and right back down the debt brick road we went. Then my life went into a financial train wreck! So I'm just suggesting to you, that you check out all the options of debt consolidation first before you go other routes. hope I have helped. shirley

Take the advice and look into consolidation, wroking with y our existing creditors. It is rarely a good idea to try and manage debt by incurring more debt. Shirley is absolutely right... thats the cool thing about this site is that by sharing our successes adn failures, we can help others without them haveing to experience eveything we have.

I appreciate your views, benofied. You are trying to tackle your debts by your own. That's good! I'm sure you will succeed in your motive.

I would also vote for consolidation. Consolidate your bills before it's too late. Late payments will hurt your score and once these negative entries are there in your report, it will be there for 7 years. So stop them before they enter your report.

debt consolidation ensures regular payments towards your bills and saves your credit from getting worse. So place your bills under consolidation and try to concentrate on how to get a good job. I'm sure you will get one very soon. Keep us posted.

P.S. check your PM.

Welcome to the forums! Sorry to hear about your situation. When you signed up on this forum, did you include contact information? You should be getting a phone call from a debt counselor who will go over options for you to consolidate your debt into one, low, monthly payment.

I am seriously against the idea of you getting a loan to help take care of other debts. This will not only deepen the hole if something were to arise and you're no longer able to take care of that payment, but put another burn in your credit. You should never take loans out to pay of debts.

If you're needing money to survive, consider other options that the government can offer for assistance.

If you're still waiting on the debt counselor to contact you, feel free to call customer service to ask who you should be referred to 877-663-3288.

Regards-
Mike

When I registered with the forum, I got a call from someone within 48 hours. She was very helpful and my hubby and I are now in the process of signing with this company. We sought other companies but were really pleased with the first one. Now that I am set with my payday loan consolidation, I want to really get on the road of becoming debt free. :D

Is it possible to use a debt consolidation program to pay a university for past due tuition expenses? I am unable to get anymore college loans and unable to register for classes and continue my education because my student account is past due. The University will not work with me and always wants all money up front, especially to clear the hold. I am interested in enrolling in a debt consolidation program to bring the account current in the university's eyes and begin paying off this debt.

Geoff724,

You can consolidate your student loans. Many lenders are there who offer consolidation loan for students. However, I'm not sure if debt to your university is regarded as debt to government or not. IMO, you can avail the free consultation offered by this site. The counselor can tell you, if you can consolidate your tuition fees or not. Keep us posted.

Stan,

Thanks for the reply! The debt to the university is considered a debt to the state government but does not seem to be affiliated with the federal student loans. I will seek the consultation on this site. Thank you!
