when your debt is in "illegal status" what does that mean and why do some companies not let you consolidate when your status is illegal...i don't get it...don't they still want your money? :?:

Sarahbrunelle, why is the debt in "illegal status"? Firstly, you have to find out why is it shown in such a way? Is it appearing in your credit report? If it is, it is damaging your credit completely.

Pull your credit report from the three bureaus and compare it. If it is not shown in the other two reports, dispute with the bureau reporting it.

Hi sarahbrunelle

Welcome to the forums. I have not heard of any debt appearing with this status in the credit reports. Please dispute with your creditors as well as the credit bureaus by highlighting the particular entry.

They will conduct an investigation with your information providers and if your dispute is found to be legitimate, your credit report will be updated and you will be sent a free copy of it.

Illegal status was that it was sold to a law firm that buys debts and they took me to court to get the payments.
