This is just a simple question. I'm sure I'll get hatemail from it, but nonetheless:

My question goes back to a thread posted in July entitled: New criteria to become a moderator
Quote:
1.) A person should have 1000 posts in the Debtcc forum, a minimum of 6 months in the community and be admitted into the Hall of Fame.

2.) A person must be nominated by at least five other members who have sent an email or private message to Polly or Mike.

I am just wondering why MCA is a mod her very first day here? Granted, I'm sure she has useful information within the banking industry. But there are also other members who have useful information, and they needed to make a substantial contribution to this forum before mod priviliges were awarded.

No, MCA was a MOD for over 5 years on another site. Her knowledge and information is incredibly valuable for this site, so when she decided to come over here, Admin made the decision to make her a MOD in the banking forum, since she is the one with all the information. It was a special situation. It was done mainly because she has lists that she constantly is updating, and to be able to edit those posts you have to be a MOD. It was either let her MOD the forum made especially because she came over here, or have someone else constantly doing things for her. It just makes sense to make her a MOD. You will see that she is only a MOD in the banking forum, not any of the other forums.

I'd also like to point out that nothing else in the MOD thread is actually being praticed. There are MODS that haven't posted in forever, and they are not losing their MOD status as it said they would.

I did start the thread. Because I was trying to get MCA to come over here. If you read through the thread it talks about it her in it.

And I didn't say in the thread someone else would MOD it. That was up to Admin. I didn't even suggest it. They looked at what she has done in the past and the huge following she has, plus what she would need to be able to do her work, and decided to make her a MOD of the banking forum.

There is no need to get upset or defensive about it, I just did not remember reading it that way :? .

I think that she does have valuable information to provide I am not saying that at all. I did read through your thread that is why I made the comment that I did. I guess I was just looking for clarification on it is all.

I went thru the threads with a fine comb (I think), help me see that, goudah. I always thought that idea was just a suggestion and never actually initiated.

The management usually allows me to take most of the decisions within the community. I was not in the town last week. Since Vikas and Jason were handling the board for the most of the time in my absense, they considered some of the community members decision and reviewed MCA's post.

OK, no harm done. I'm glad this thread didn't get blown out of proportion. Not suggesting that MCA shouldn't be a mod, I just wanted some clarification. It makes sense now that Goudah mentions, that only a mod can edit posts; and seeing MCA's posts, I guess she should be able to edit them.

Welcome, MCA, glad you're here. Don't take this post personally, K. I would have asked the same question of anyone that became a mod the first day.

... why aren't we following those rules? I wonder why did me make a concerted effort to restrict mod status, when there is no enforcement. Ah well, nuff said.
