And there is another one, that the same acct is listed under the original creditor and by a collection agency. Do I dispute one of these listings?

Do you still have the docs of what was included on your bankruptcy? If so, you should contact all three reporting agencies, indicate on your credit report of the discrepancy and then notify the creditor. dispute both.

Thanks. I just finished looking at the Experian report, and the same creditor that is listed twice on TU, is listed 3 times on Experian for the same debt. Grr.

The best way is to dispute it with CRA through mail. Attach copies of bankruptcy court. Highlight the items that you are disputing. Send it certified and keep copies with you also. You can also contact your bankruptcy lawyer to know if anything is left.

Thanks stella. I don't know if the bk lawyer is even in business still, this happened in 1998. So yes, it's debt that has been sitting there since 1998, but was discharged.

You can contact some other lawyer too with the papers too. I think the items are reported wrongly. However, you can PM Virginia-Legal-Defense and know more of your options. Keep us posted if you get any new information.

Also try calling the creditors. I did that with one that was not showing as being included in my bankruptcy on my report and they had it noted on my account that my bankruptcy was discharged in 2003 but somehow my account fell through the cracks. THANKFULLY, since they had it on my account, it was easy to get that fixed on my report. However, you should be able to send your discharge statement as well as which creditors were included in the bankruptcy to the creditor and they should fix it. It might take a while for them to cycle off the report - but it's well worth the wait.
