also, they called at 9:20pm est...isn't that after the allowed hours?

They are allowed to call between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM in your time zone, not based on their time zone or Eastern (unles that happens to be the time zone you live in!!)[/quote]

People from effective tele services might be contacting you regarding some services that you might have used in the past. Call them and know more regarding this matter.

If you find that you are not the person they are looking for, you can tell them and they will stop calling you. But you need to know the purpose of this call.

I've visited several sites today regarding this phone number. It is related to Effective Teleservices. One site has many posters reporting that someone did come on the line and say something about Bellsouth. I live in Missouri and can't even get Bellsouth here. I figure this is a telemarketer plain and simple.

Also if you check with the Better Business Bureau you will find no listing other that phone number, the address on their website or their name. That in itself would make me a little suspicious, though there are legit businesses that aren't registered with the BBB.

Also I have gotten 3 calls now in 2 days and all mine have been dead silence. I'm about ready to call the cops for harassment.

The name on my caller ID was ETECH INC. Upon answering a man with an indian accent tried to get me to upgrade my bellsouth internet service. After a few mintes of explaining that I an on the DNC list and that I do not handle any business transactions on the phone, he became very rude demanding information, after I threatened to report the call to the authorities, he then said that if I didn't upgrade my service he would lose his job. I then said welcome to unemploment and hung up my phone. I believe they were fishng for personal information for identity theft, or something of that nature.
