Do you have a Modest Need or want to help someone?

The way it works is a person posts their request to the site for a grant of up to 1000.00 and provides requested documentation. The request is reviewed by an advocate and if and when approved it is posted online. It is then reviewed by contributing members who apply points to the request until the request is fully funded. The organization then issues a check made out to the repair shop, doctor, utility or whomever.
There are several different forms of grants available.
If you have found yourself in need of an emergency it is a much better option than a payday loan. It does not have to be repaid but I highly recommend that you give back to someone else when your situation improves. If you are in a more comfortable position I would ask you to be come a contributor as part of your giving schedule or tithing as a way of helping people get back on there feet. In this economy we all need to reach out a hand.
Please keep this thread bumped up so as many as possible may read it. Thanks

I like the fact that if I do donate towards modestneeds.org I have 60 days in which I can allocate how that donation is used. So if I have a particular type of need (IE, single mom with no money for food, emergency car repair, etc) I feel I would like to contribute to, I can allocate it towards that.
I'm signing up to donate!

Exactly! You give back at your pace to what you see as a real need. I commend your spirit. We should all focus more on others and less on ourselves. I am unemployed and collecting Floridas measly 275 a month but rather than cutting back I am increasing my giving!

Well, I did make a vow once I became employed I was going to do whatever I could to help others that might be going through what I went through.
FrogPatch, sorry you're still unemployed.
How was it getting your unemployment from Florida? I can tell you stories about my experience with them when I became unemployed back in 2007 that would probably curl your hair! I have never dealt with a bigger bunch of idiots in my entire life!
Almost like dealing with collection agencies.

I really didn't have a problem Ron. It is half of what I received the last time this happened in New Jersey years ago however. Florida is going to get a whole new wave of homeless if they don't do something!

I am rather ashamed to say that one time I signed up with this site for a medical bill. they actually denied me saying i did not have enough documentation. it is a great heads up for those who are looking to donate but i also wanted to give a heads up for those who may be in need.

It is true that they require certain documentation and you must fall into a particular income to expense ratio also. However thousands have qualified and have been helped
