I took vacation the day before and the day after Christmas because well I feel that it is the worst time of the year to call people. Even if they don't answer their phone.

Vacation has it's perks but I am ready to get back to work. I am well rested and ready to go. My kids and husband have driven me nuts now and I am ready for some peace lol.

What do you do with your vacation time? I usually sleep late and read.

In the 4 years I've been at this job, I've only taken 1 day off - and that was for my grandma's funeral.

I always cash-in my vacation time and get an extra check every year. Otherwise I'd just sit around the house and no nothing, and feel like I'm wasting time. I suppose one day if I actually have some place to go then I might actually take a vacation.

When I had a job and vacation-it was Heaven!! Hubby and I took 5 or 6 days and went out of state to this resort town. Sometimes I took vacation days to just stay at home and not have to do anything-and really enjoy my home!! I,too, like to sleep late and read, but haven't gotten to do much of either lately!!..karen

We have to use our vacation time within the year or lose it!! When I have the extra money I sometimes take a week and go visit my sister or go camping up in Wisconsin. Sometimes I take a day here or there to make a long weekend. If it's summer...I'll go lay by the pool...go sit and read in the park...stuff like that. During winter I'll take a day and lay on the couch all day reading...or clean out a closet...LOL.

My day job, we get a few weeks per year that we have to use or lose. Can't cash'em in, either.

I spend about a third working to catch up with my other job [self-employed IT], another third hangin' with the kids, and the rest riding.

Young bikers pick a destination and go. Us old bikers tend to pick a direction and go. A few times a year I get on the bike and just disappear for a day or a week or longer, with no fixed plans. It does wonders for my mental state.
