Four ways to obtain a credit report
Date: Tue, 03/07/2006 - 20:40
1. You rate one free credit report a year from each one of the bureaus. You can go on line to their websites (listed below) and request your free one time report. You can go to annualcreditreports.com to see if you rate a free one.
2. You can purchase a credit report from one of the credit bureaus for around $9.00
Equifax.com
Experian.com
Transunion.com
Or you can choose to go with the 3 in 1 (its one credit report with all three bureaus on it) for $29.95. All three of the bureaus sites listed above, offer the 3 in 1 option. Experian is a tad bit more, and offers it for $34.95 but that includes your credit score. THere are other 'monitoring' services that they offer for different prices.
3. You can get turned down for credit and request a copy of your report within 60 days. Heres the form to send:
Quote:
Your Name Street City, State Zip Credit Bureau Name Street City, State Zip Date: RE: Request for credit report To Whom It May Concern, Please produce a credit report for the purpose of review and return to: Name: Last, First, Middle Mailing Address: _____________________ Current Address: _____________________ Previous Address: ____________________ Social Security Number: Date of Birth: I have not enclosed a fee for the report because I have been turned down for credit in the last 60 days by: ___________________________________ I certify that I am the person named above and that I am submitting this request for my own review. Signed __________________________________ |
4. Whenever you dispute something with the bureaus or ask for verification, you will receive the latest copy of your credit file, included will be anything they may have changed per your dispute.

I would like to add few more words here. There are many other companies that offer Credit Monitoring Service. I think it is better to go with ???Do it yourself'. However, if one feels it hard to monitor credit regularly, it is better to enroll for the service offered by credit bureaus, JMO.
