Advice on CCA and PDL loans

I was recommended to credit counseling of America by your website. I called and spoke to a lady named Lisa and explained to her that I need to consolidate 6 payday loans. I am in Florida. She asked me to call her back with all the info on the loans and I said I would do so but in the interim I spoke to my brother (he is an attorney) and he told me to be cvareful because sometimes these CCS companies make your life worse with bad advice, taking your money and not paying creditors on time, etc. CC of America has placed 11 calls to my cell phone in the pastr 5 hours. They are as bad as a debt collection service. I am somewhat concerned because I become suspicious when someone hounds me like this. I also do not like some of the advice she gave me about closing my account etc. These PDL companies have language about this in their agreements and also have "wage assignments" and I do not want to be charged with any kind of fraudulent behavior. Any advice - how reliable is Credit Counseling of America and if they are, why do they BUG so much.
