Yes they can.My Sears was charged off and a junk debt buyer bought it,and I have had hell since then.They buy these debts for pennies on the dollar,and then try to stiff you with all sorts of fees,etc. But you do have options if they try to do this....Karen

I agree with Bossy. Sears is the worst one.
Ventus Capital Services is one the worst ones.
Although my debt consolidation company had faxed
my power of attorney. They still kept calling.
I finally had the company send them a cease &
desist company. What made her it so made,
the young woman did not speak good english
and wanted to argue with me. I had a hard time
explaining to this woman that I could not really
understand her.
