I have a SERIOUS question about the ethics (or lack thereof) of allied interstate. Can someone please verify for me whether or not it's true that CA's are only permitted, by law, to call ONE time per hour. I desperately would love an answer to this question since these guys have called me today, 10/26/06,at the following times, and I quote from my caller ID: 2:53 pm, 2:45pm, 2:43pm, 2:35pm, 2:28pm, 2:20pm, 2:11pm, 2:01pm, 1:50pm, 1:40pm, 1:29pm, and 1:16 pm.!!!!!! What the hell!!! Is this NOT HARASSMENT?????? I have even spoken with them and told them that what they are doing is DEFINITELY illegal. Who the heck harasses people more than Allied??? Do I have any recourse here that does NOT involve paying bucks to an attorney????? Thanks for any help guys!!!

Repeated phone calls by any collection agency are against the federal law. When you talked with them, what was their response? Are they doing this intentionally despite the fact that you have explained your move?

You should be well versed about the FDCPA laws before deciding any legal actions against allied interstate. They will challenge you to prove that the action done was "harassment" that you say.

Check with your state laws on recording the phone calls. You should do this after following your state laws. Don't do anything that gives them a chance to hold against you. Put your complaints at the AG's office, FTC and the BBB because the legal people can only bring them back to their normal behavior.

Are you answering the phone each time or are you screening your calls? CA's can call you multiple times in a day but can only have one contact with you. It you had answered on the first call, none of the following calls would have been made...your number would have been kicked out of the dialer.
