I am writing to see if there is any help for me and my four children. I just received on Friday December 22, 2006 an eviction notice.
I have tryed to apply for a loan through my bank but a repo stoped that.
I thank you in advance for your time and help.
I am looking forward in hearing from you soon.
Thank you

Sabrina, I am so sorry to hear about your trouble. Have you tried talking to the owner? Sometimes just explaining your situation will help. If that doesn't work, what about the Salvation Army or your local churches? Sometimes, they can help you. Please let us know if you have any luck with this. I'll keep you and your children in my prayers.

Try contacting your local Jobs and Family Service office (aka: welfare office) They have a program called PRC, it will provide assistance with things such as rent if you have an eviction notice, utilities that have been shut off/you have a termination notice, and other things such as school. There is a life time cap on what you can receive, I believe it is $2,000. The income guidelines to qualify are easier (your income can be higher, where as if you are trying to qualify for Medicaid or foodstamps your income must be below the federal poverty level.) I would try contacting them, you should get approval for the assistance before you are actually "set out", the eviction process can be a lengthy one. You must also speak with your landlord to tell him/her about paying the back rent. Sometimes landlords will refuse your payment for back rent and just go forward with the eviction. You can also try the local social service agencies such as Salvation Army, Lutheran Social Services, and other local church organizations.
