I live in the state of Connecticut & took out a $2000 loan with Brookwood Loans. My payments are $179.32 monthly. The first month I made a double payment, but my loan is back to where I started. Is this high interest rate legal in the state that I live in? Is there anything that can be done with this company?

You should check with Connecticut's Department of Banking in order to be 100% sure that the interest rate is not predatory. They do have a section for their statutes and regulations on the website. If they are charging you a predatory interest rate then you can report them to the Department and let the law take its course.

You can check the link below for more information regarding "small loans" or any other type of loan in your state.
http://www.ct.gov/dob/cwp/view.asp?a=2239&Q=298138&dobNAV_GID=1659&dobNav=|
Look around that site at the link I gave you and you will most likely find the information you are seeking. Also, you can call the Connecticut Department of Banking and inquire at (860) 240-8299
