I thought I got a dept modification from Countrywide for my 1st & 2nd mortage. But then they were bought by Bank of America. Now BAC says the only modification that was approved was for the second mortage. I have paperwork from Countrywide that says both the first and second were approved. Meanwhile my credit keeps getting worse.

Good luck dealing with Bank of America, quite possibly the worst bank in America. They will charge you fees at the drop of a hat. They will sit on transactions when your checking account starts to run low at the end of the month, then pay the bigger transactions first to pile up their NSF fees.

We had such a problem with them, we closed our checking and savings accounts, our credit card, and refinanced our house. A lot of hassle to go through because they wouldn't refund NSF fees when they knew they were in the wrong. $325 in fees in one month is ridiculous. The total we went negative was $457. Subtract the fees out and that's $132. Guess what caused us to go in the red? An accidental double payment of our electric bill, which was set up on an automatic debit. We took the automatic debit off and paid a different amount because it was higher than usual. We called them and told them they'd paid an extra payment and they said there was nothing they could do about it.

So we pulled everything from them over that whole fiasco. We refinanced the house. The title company sold it to Countrywide, who then sold out to Bank of America. Isn't that ironic?

Sorry for the rant. I just get ticked off when it comes to anything related to them. Fight them everyday. Keep the paperwork so you can dispute it. Get your credit report from all three reporting agencies to see how it's adversely effecting your rating. If you have a lawyer, ask him or her to send notifications to the credit reporting agencies.

The best thing to do is to keep at them until you get what Countrywide agreed to. Don't let the work bank in America hurt your credit score without fighting them.
