family home eviction

in 2004 my ex-wifed filed for divorce because she was having an affair with a younger man.She removed me from our Magnolia by filing a false restraining order. My brother lived in the family home left by our father at death.Brother has never worked and has no income.Brother and I hadn't spoken for years because he wouldn't move when I requested he pay a low rent fee to be deposited in an account for property emergencies.Move and rent the home and the house will pay for itself.After leaving my residence and staying in a Hotel for weeks I moved to family home.House was going into foreclosure because taxes had not been paid.I was ordered by courts to pay ex-wife $34k and pay parcial outstanding bill's and deposit $25k into separate account for our daughter.Tried to get loan against home to comply,;couldn't for various reasons.Youngest brother agreed to buy home if brother got a job.He didn't & younger brother backed out.We were working with an independant mortgage broker with Ave one.Plan was too tear down 1905 home and develope three town homes on property.
Back-up plan B was to sell home to brokers co-worker with a carry back.Permits,plans etc...did not not happen.Co-worker became frustrated and unknowly to my brother & I sold to another investor.Note:we had not paid rent because it was agreed that rent would be taken back at time of final sales from the town homes.After month after month and being told we're
almost there we told to move or pay.We meet with new investor and agreed to pay to stop first eviction.2nd investor was $16k in the rears and home was in foreclosure again.My brother gave his life savings of $1,500 and I took a loan from my 401k and paid $2,500.01.We argreed to each pay $800 each per month.Brother missed payments and I paid until December 08.Economy down slide I was given 1/2 the hours I normally work.Lost my part-time job.Snow fall keep me away from work for eight days.I no longer could afford to meet my agreement so I found and apartment and areed to move.Gave my 20-day notice.My brother is his own man.My brother recieved 3-day eviction notice today and has been diagnosed with servere depression.
He is in a panic.
Note;we've lived in the dilapated condition of the home because we didn't expect to be there this long.The home has no heat,no oven,20 gallon hot water tank,roof leaks,standing in the attic you can see outside because of the holes in the roof.there is a leak in the water pipe from the main water fed causing higher water bill.No installation in wall or floors.electrical box wired incorrectly-constantly tripping the fuse box and many other issues.
my question is how can we defend ourselves and do have landlord tenant rights because of condition of the house?We strongly believe we were tricked out of our inheritage.

did you ever have an attorney involved with any of these plans,
did you ever have an attorney involved with any of these plans, or was it all the mortgage broker saying "we want to do THIS" and having grand plans?
