How to find private individuals lending large sum?

Welcome to the forum Loretta! Have you tried Prosper Online? Individuals bid to finance loans to individuals. Your interest rate is determined by your credit score, which must be greater than 520 (I believe) to be able to apply for a loan with this site. Lenders can view your profile to find out about you and why you need the loan, and they pretty much decide if they want to bid to be a lender based on that.

Loans are handled in the same way that conventional ones are - if you default, the account is sent to collections, reported to the credit bureaus, etc.

It is not your FICO score that Prosper looks at, rather it's an internet lending modeled score. So your FICO can be less and you will still qualify to post. Just keep in mind that qualifiying to post is the easy part. It's getting people to bid of lending you money that is hard.

I would also say to look into "silent" partners in your hometown..place a want ad in local newspaper..there are many private individuals out there..especially these days wanting to make more than what $ they have stored away into funds is paying..if you are legit..you can find many decent offers

Just a note about prosper...check to see what states they are licensed in. I am in NC and got approved and then went through the whole procedure to be told at the end that they only make business loans in the state of NC, not personal loans. Was really discouraging.

Dang, forgot to add....wish they did do NC because I know a lot of people that could use some help here. Makes one wonder how many don't quite tell the truth about what they are wanting to use the money for??? Some may say for business and use it for other things. Just a thought....
