My husband and I have obtained a large amount of debt that we have been able to maintain over the last several years by making on time payments. I recently lost my job and for the first time I had to choose not to pay one of my credit cards due to lack of money. I know that if I could consolidate our bills and get a lower payment we will be able to maintain our payments on time again. My question is, since my income is unemployment, what are the chances that we will be approved for the consolidation loan? We do own our home, but I would prefer to get an unsecured loan. Thank you for your assistance.

I was in the exact same position you are describing, only it happened to me a few years ago, and it is still haunting me. Anyway, I can't really offer you any advice on consolidating because I've never done that. I just wanted to let you know that I can relate to what you're going through, and tell you that if you hang tight, I am sure someone else will be around shortly to offer you some advice. Take good care. :)

You can consider secured unemployed debt consolidation.

Secured unemployed debt consolidation will have advantages in the form of comparatively lower interest rates. Repayment terms will be flexible with the ability to borrow more. For amounts from ????5000-????25,000 an unemployed will find unsecured debt consolidation more suitable. With amounts ranging from ????25,000-????75,000 an unemployed will find better options with secured debt consolidation.
