Mort Financ Co Rep sharing SS# with husband

I contacted LendingTree online about refinancing my mortgage. I was contacted by several companies including a local finance company. Anyhow the woman I spoke with, who ran my credit etc.. advised me that the company could not assist me but she knew someone who could. So later in the week I receive a call from a man who said he was with another local mortgage finance company and that this woman from the first company had given him all my information i.e name, address, ss# etc.. well after talking to him, I realized that this was another fast talking, scam mortgage company who just wanted to make a buck. Now of course I am not falling for his quick talk but I am appalled this lady gave my private information out to another company plus come to find out this guy is her husband..Isn't it illegal to give someone's SS# and other personal information out without their permission? I told her it was fine she gave him my first and last name and my phone #, I didn't agree to all the other information..Any input would be appreciated
