I don't like to play these "what might happen" scenarios, it's like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey to get him to go where you want. To me it seems like they're just trying to get you to make those 3 payments, then they'll hound you later for the rest.

Dont fall for it. We found out from our lawyer all they are doing is making it harder for you to keep your home. They will not permanently modify loans, its become nothing but a scam. They just want you deeper in debt. Our lawyer has been going around and around with them for close to a year for us and others with loans from them, and getting the short end of the stick in the process. Also, a friend I do volunteer work with works for them as a home loan manager and he flat out admitted to us they arent modifing loans-they are instructed to string the homeowners along until they completely default and lose their homes. He begged me to not give out his name(his job would be in dire jeopardy) but my lawyer has spoken to him and we are trying to figure out how to get some of these banks into a world of $%^& for their practices. Im so over these banks taking my tax dollars to line the pockets of their CEO's while the REAL WORKING MAN has to beg borrow and steal to keep their homes nowadays.
