I need some ideas - I have a friend, that may need to leave her husband soon. Problem is, she has 3 dogs. Any friends or family that she could stay with couldn't take the dogs. But as any dog owner knows, she can't just leave them. She can't afford to get a place on her own right away, so she will need to rely on her friends and family for a roof . . . . But what about her babies?

There has to be something she can do????
Something temporary??? She can't give them away, that would be too much. What other options are there? Does anyone know about rescue groups? Do they take in dogs temporarily? Anything????? Are there dog foster homes? How would someone find them? Are they even safe?

i wouldn't go with craigs list unless your friend was looking for a perm home.for foster care i would take frog's advice and with the local humane society or there might be a best freinds in the area.you should be able to google them.

There are rescue leagues for all breeds of dogs...I would contact the rescue league in the state your friend is going to for the breed. I would also suggest that they offer to provide the food and medical coverage (if needed) for the dogs, if someone would just foster the dogs until the person could get on their feet. I was working with a rescue league to adopt a dog recently and they are very choosy who they let the animals reside with they actually come to the home to check you out....

goudah, roxy is right. Any of the 'rescue leagues' will also provide foster care for animals. I just pretty much know about the whole dachshund scene; however, I know that the other rescue leagues (for other breeds) would be able to help. I look on line a lot just to read up on things and see where people take animals in and care for them until their "parents" can care for them again. I don't know where your friend resides, but I do know that the rescue leagues have 'bases' in almost every single state. There is no way I could EVER leave/give up my dogs. No way. It breaks my heart that she can't find a friend or family member to take them in. I personally would stick to the 'larger groups' - like the rescue leagues - and look into them. You know they are reputable and the people who take them in are volunteers. No one is going to volunteer to do this that is not an animal lover and willing to take really good care of the pets. Please let us know if you need help in searching.

I hope she finds someone to care for her babies while she is relocating. It is hard sometimes, but they are part of her family and she should not have to give them up. Humane soceity or some kind of shelter out there to help. I wish I lived closer cause I would take care of them for her.
