I called their 800# I was given and it is actually Ellis Crosby and Associates. 800-491-8615

Don't pay anything to Ellis Crosby or GTO Collections. They are out of business and your money will not go to your debt account. They are trying to pocket your hard earned money.

It is better to contact your creditors and make payment arrangements with them.

It looks like the original creditor sold my account to Ellis Crosby. They told me that there was nothing they could do because they no longer owned my account.

When the creditors sold the account to Ellis Crosby, no one knew that they will be out of business today. Now that they are undergoing legal actions, you can contact your creditors and know if you have any options.

It might happen that your debt will be owned by some other collection agency later and will place calls to you. But contacting your creditors can also be helpful at this point.

As the original creditor is not holding your account anymore, you might have to wait for some other collection agency trying to recover the debt later. Make sure that you enter into an agreement as per the fdcpa laws.
