Ok, so I'm looking through my "previous addresses", and it's showing me as living, or previously lived at 12909 Holborn Ave Cleveland, OH.

I live in OHIO....But never in Cleveland...I don't even think I've ever BEEN to Cleveland, other than nearby Sandusky to go to Cedar Point...(YAY ROLLERCOASTERS!!)

I don't see anything weird with my credit accounts, but what should I DO?? Can I dispute this? Should I track down what the heck is at 12909 Holborn? This could be someone trying ID theft, right??

YIKES!

It seems to be a mistake with the credit bureau while doing the data entry in your file. Point out that they are displaying your wrong contact information. They might ask for some proof before making the changes.

The credit bureaus handle millions and millions of consumers' files. You can expect them(and their computers) to make such errors. :D That needs to be rectified in time.

If this address is coming up in the Transunion and Equifax reports also, then you should give an immediate attention to it. Keep trying other numbers also that is in CRA's website. Hope you will get someone live in another number. Send a letter also to keep a follow up. This way, you will have a back up also.

I am going to call tomorrow morning, and also send a letter. It sounds to me like someone may have tried to apply for credit with my information from Cleveland, but got denied. I don't know. It's scary though. I'd like to know where this address is....Maybe take a little road trip..lol

Has anyone ever had any luck with maybe getting a collection accound deleted after it's paid? A lot of these were from my car accident last year, for medical bills. It would be nice for them to go away after I get my settlement. I go for my final re-check on my foot tomorrow, and then start settlement procedings after that which will take care of all of these medical bills. (And hopefully enough extra to pay off any other outstanding junk)

I know there is no "magic cure" but it would be nice to see some of these go bye-bye.

I'm working on getting some taken off, but only because they are joint accounts, or they say participant on account. I don't know how you would be able to get them pulled off otherwise, unless you were able to work some kind of deal with the collection agency. Maybe if you begged?? :) Let us know if you come up with anything. :)

well, let me tell you this little story! My husbands brother, his sister and her husband and their son-and our oldest son lived across the street from us for about 12/13 years.(they just moved about a month ago). Last year when I started getting into this whole credit thing, I pulled my husbands equifax report. They had his name listed and then his AKA name. Well, he doesn't have a AKA name. But they had him as 'aka David Vincent Bland'. And the address that 'David Vincent Bland' lived at (on the report) was the house across the street from our house. My husbands brothers house! Someone over there, got my husbands SSN and tried to get something using his SSN and a bogus name. It took me forever to get that off of his report!!! They finally took the name off, but still show my husband as have lived at the address across the street. I have disputed it three times now and they're still showing it. We have lived in this house since we moved here and thats been for almost 19 years! So this is what I came up with and disputed it using this point. Our oldest son also lived across the street and he has the same name as my husband, but hes a jr. YET he refuses to put the JR on the end of it. Several businesses in town have them confused because the son won't put jr on his name. Still ticks me off that my husbands brother or his sister, tried to fraud him by using his SSN!!!!!

If the address is incorrect, you can dispute it. Simply wrote the CRA in question a letter stating they have incorrect information, that you never lived at that address, and request it to be removed.

Now, because there is a strange address appearing on your Credit Report, you need to keep a close eye on it to see if any fraudulent activity occurs. This could be the beginning of an Identify Theft situation, which you may also want to discuss with the CRA, to maybe put a fraud alert on your file.

You can't get a paid collection account removed from your file before the seven years period. The period is calculated from the date of original delinquency. These laws have been set in the FCRA. Though collection accounts always hurt the credit file (and it should always be tried never to let your account reach that stage), it will be still better if you pay it off. This gives your credit file a better impression that you paid the debt instead of avoiding it. Your scores will also slightly boost up after getting it paid.

I've got the extension numbers of a couple of these people..Maybe if I keep calling them day after day they'll get sick of my voice. :) I said to one guy today, "But you'd be my hero. Don't you want to be my hero?" He just laughed at me...lol Might as well have fun with this anyway.
