I am about to receive a 3 day pay or quit notice on my apartment and I don't have the money to pay it. :(

I'm freaking out and I just need someone to help me stay calm and tell me it will be ok. :(

Anyone have a few hundred to spare? :(

iguana, OMG! I am sooooo sorry! Is there ANYONE who can lend you the money? Anyone? Please don't freak. Can you think of anyone or even a few people who can lend you the money? If not one person, maybe a couple or three to give you part each? They will know it is for something very important (a place to live!) and they will know you will pay them back. If you can't think of one person with that amount of money, can you think of a few with SOME money and pool it together and then just pay each one off as you can? I am so sorry. Just please do not panic and freak. You can always talk to us. I know that if we had the money, we would send it to you.

I put out a plea to all of my friends on my livejournal and included my paypal link, letting them know that any money given would be a loan, not a donation, unless otherwise specified. My boyfriend has several interviews lined up today and basically has a job offer, so we'll be 'in the money' in a few weeks, it's just the meantime that is the problem.

In any case, my friends have pulled together $240 for me so far. :) I just need a little bit more and then I can go speak with the apartment complex, let them know my situation and pay them part in a couple days and the rest next Friday.

Things are looking up. :)

I am so sorry to hear that about your apartment. Since you have some money- maybe the manager will work with you if you explain the circumstances and that next week you will have the rest.

You will be in my prayers--if I had the money, you would have it today so you wouldn't have to worry!!..karen

Another $50 donation (not loan) from a friend came through, so I'm only about $150 shy of what I need, now.

Unfortunately, this means I'll have to shaft my storefront loans for a bit, but oh well, having a place to live is more important.

My boyfriend is off doing a follow up appointment with a place that wants to hire him and then has another interview this afternoon and one tomorrow, so he should be gainfully employed very soon. :)

I'm hopeful. I'm sure that even if I'm a bit shy for this month's rent, my complex can't be so horrible that they would evict me over $150, right?

Gosh...iguanagirl...I am so sorry for you. I hope it all turns out well. But how can they evict you that quick?? A long time aga (thankfully) when I was newly divorced with 2 little kids I missed 1 month rent and then only had part when the 2nd month rolled around. I got a 5 days notice...which I couldn't make and then was served papers to go to court a week away. I went and they ended up giving me another 3 week extension and by then I had been able to put all the money together for the 2 months past due...all in all I had 5 weeks to come up with all the money...that was in Illinois.

iguana, you have some wonderful friends. Honestly. They are coming together for you. You always find out in hard times who your "real" friends are. Awesome. You're not TOO short on your payment. I'm praying that they will take what you have and allow you to pay the remainder when you get paid. I see what morningstarr posted above when that happened to her. So it worked for her. They gave her an extension. And I do know that a friend of mine was threatened with eviction, but that was after not paying for 3 months (idiot) and even then he was given 30 days to pay the amount or leave. I don't think they would boot you out over $150. And, I'm sorry, but I agree with you, iguana. A roof over your head comes before your storefront. I'm sorry if anyone disagrees with me on that one, but I'd rather face the music with the storefront than be sitting on the curb in the cold with my pets.

Well Cannr once again ALL of ur points are SO true!!
Ya know, when times are hard u REALLY do find out who u true friends are! When my daughter got sick in 2000 we quickly realized how many friends we really did NOT have! :( I think a lot of them were uncomfortable and didn't know what to say so they just avoided us all together. And it was a tough lesson to learn for my daughter at the young age of 17....
But as u said, i found out then who my true friends were and the people that truly came thru for us were our family members, maybe one or two friends!

ang, my "knock in the head" came during/after my divorce. I found out that I could count my "friends" on one hand. Sad, but true. But I have learned a lot. Horrible, horrible experience; however, I now know who I can depend on, who will support me, who will be there for me, etc. And the rest of them? They can go to hell. I'm sorry about your situation. Sad. But you now know who, in your life, really are true. iguana is finding this out also. And, I found also that perfect strangers are more willing to bend over backwards for you and help you out no matter what when your "friends" suddenly disappear. Amazing. I've really learned a lot through the hard times, you know?

CAnnr-you and Ang are so right! When a crisis comes up, who is standing by your side, are your friends! When my dad died of cancer years ago- I had a 6 week old baby, and needed someone to watch him so I could go to my dads funeral--well, most of my friends were"busy" and the one that did watch him told me I had to come back to her house to feed him before I went to the cemetary, because she was busy cleaning her house  Needless to say--All of them are no longer my friends.Today I have friends that I can call anytime day or night, and they will be there.

Also, I have made such wonderful friends here, tht I know I can pm you all or post, and you will be there! When my mom had her heart attack--all of you were there to help give me support, and I am gratefull.

Iguana--Thins are looking up for you, and you have a wealth of friends here if you need us!!..karen :D
