Here is a settlement letter from Asset Acceptance(Citibank account). I would like to have your opinion to make sure that this settlement is for the full amount.
The letter only contain my account number but not the amount owned $3600.

“Clearance of the agreed funds”, they are not mentioning the amount that will be cleared?

Thank you for your opinion. I need to make a payment or not by tomorrow.

1. Did you ever send them a debt validation letter to see if they actually own the debt? You will need that first to make sure that you are paying the correct owners of the account.
2. Check your credit report, you can get a free copy at http://www.annualcreditreport.com It should be listed on there when citibank charged off the account and then should be listed later in the report under collections who has it now.
3. You will need to check the Statute of Limitation in your state for credit card collection, it may have already expired. You could plug in the account information and tell them nicely that the SOL has expired on the account. If it is charged off with the original debtors, the collection agency is trying to collect on what everyone refers to as "junk debt". Check out all this before you respond. I would say if they want their money they will wait until you check out this information.
