I was checking all three of my credit reports. There are two accounts on there that are reporting late, but I have paid these under the balances. Can I write a letter to the companies asking them to remove this negative information?

Hi

Welcome to the forums.

You should freely place a dispute with your lenders as your file is not showing the accurate picture of your credit worthiness especially after the debt is paid off.

After receiving your request, they will verify if your accounts have been paid in full. Once they have reviewed your accounts, they will notify the bureaus about it. Your accounts will be shown as paid and you can verify the latest standing within a period of 30 days.

If you do not find any change by that time, the lenders have to give you proof of their investigation done after you have given a legal shape to this dispute.

You can also send a letter of dispute to the credit bureau reporting this account. They will conduct the investigation with your information providers and update your file.

Hopefully this matter gets resolved soon.
