Are generic drugs useful? Do they really cost less?

I have a lot of medical expenses and the prescription drugs are expensive. I’m looking for some cheaper options. I’ve heard that generic drugs are less expensive. Can I ask my doctor about the generic versions of the prescribed drugs? Will they really help me to cut down costs?

Yes, absolutely. On your next visit, ask your doctor to prescribe the generic version, if possible. If it is available, it will reduce your medicine cost to some extent.

You can ask your pharmacist about special programs or discount cards if your medical bills are really giving you a headache!! There are few pharmacies which offer plans where you can get good discounts on your 30-day prescribed medications, if you buy from there.

Do you have medical insurance coverage? If no, then opt for it as soon as possible. Due to sky-high medical cost, people are falling into debts.

In that case, you can request your doctor to prescribe generic brand if available.
