I'm in a terrible problem. My mom is completely alone in her house. Due to the shutdown, I can't even visit her once. Usually, I pay her electricity bill online. She gives me all the details over the phone, and I pay her bill. But this time, mom has not yet received any electricity from Duke. Plus, mom is so unwell that she can't even search for the old electricity bill. So, I'm not being able to help her anyway.

Will Duke disconnect the service if I can't pay her electricity bill?

Hello Fredion!

So far, the official statement from Duke Energy is they won’t disconnect service for non-payment. Although they will continue the meter-reading service for later payments.

So, you have some relief for now.
