Can I opt for unemployment benefits for pay cut due to Coronavirus? Our organization has announced pay cuts for some people. Due to economic crisis in the country.

Yes, you can pay for unemployment benefits if you've been laid off. Partial unemployment benefits also exist. Depending on the state you live in, you will get the benefits for few weeks.

No. You won't qualify for unemployment benefits at this point. The reason is simple. You are still employed and receive a paycheck as a full-time employee. So, you are not eligible for this. Try for unemployment benefits if you lose your job completely. Try to get a side-hustle right now, preferably online. That might help you.

Well, buddy, I'm sorry to inform you that you can't! In case, you are laid-off by your organization, then only you can claim for unemployment benefits. President Trump has recently announced a $2 trillion stimulus package known as the CARES Act. For that, you will need to file a claim with your state online, over the phone or by email.

Hey Alexndra!

The answer is, unfortunately, ‘No’. The rule says a pay cut cannot be considered for unemployment-related-benefits. You will be regarded as a full-time employee of your company.

So, these unemployment benefits won’t be given to you.
