Are unemployment benefits applicable if there's a pay cut. My company has said that there will be reduced hourly pay. I stay in Virginia

Hello Rogers!

The Virginia Employment Commission has a straight answer to your query.

According to them, you are eligible for partial benefits. A partially unemployed person is one who, in a calendar week, is employed by a regular employer. He/she had earnings that were less than his weekly stipulated amount, and who worked less than his normal customary full-time hours because of a lack of work.

So, under the Virginia Employment Commission, you will be considered as an eligible person for taking partial benefits.

Thanks!

Don't get stressed if it's taking a longer time to receive the unemployment check. At this time, it's taking a relatively longer time for the checks to arrive. Try to manage it until you receive your paycheck. Cut down spending as much as possible. If required, take out a loan from your friends or relatives and pay it back once you get the check.

Well, if your company is offering you a reduced paycheck, then you aren't eligible for claiming unemployment benefits. So, you will be eligible for partial unemployment benefits. To know more, you can visit the Virginia Employment Commission office.
