I am a divorced woman with 3 kids. I am going to retire in 2021. I am not in touch with my ex-husband. But my kids tell me that he is still working. His income is way more than me. Will I get more money if I claim his Social Security benefits? Do I need to ask him to get and use his Social Security benefits?

Yes! You can claim his social security benefits. But there are some conditions you have to abide by before making a claim.
You can only claim social security benefits when you will be 62 years old.
Your marriage had to have lasted for at least 10 years.
These are the two conditions before you claim your ex-husband’s benefits.

You do not need to call your ex-husband to claim his social security benefits. Even the Social Security is not bothered about it. So, there is no need to reconnect with your ex-husband on this subject. However, there are a few more factors you need to consider.

You need to divorced for 2 years.
You have not remarried.

And, one more point. There is no guarantee that you will get more by claiming your ex-husband's social security benefits.
