Since back-to-school is approaching, I have a question - Can taking my kids for back-to-school shopping help to teach introduce the concept of budgeting or it’s not the right age yet. My son is 7 years and my daughter is 4 years.

Every time is a right time to teach your children finances. Back-to-school time is good when you want your kids to learn budgeting. Teach them in a simple way so that they can understand the concept easily. Clear their doubts, if any.

You should take your kids with you when you go for back-to-school shopping or shopping for their items throughout the year. By doing so, they'll be able to learn the concept of budgeting - that they've to buy items within the allotted amount. It will help them manage their finances in a better way in the future.

I agree with Phil, Back-to school shopping is the best way to make your kids budget-savvy. I know, initially you'll face some difficulties to make them understand what you intend to say. But, starting from this year and in coming days, your kids will gradually learn the importance of smart buying that can help them to budget and save money properly.
