Do we get unemployment even though we are not fired?

Hi,

You may not qualify to collect the unemployment benefits if you were fired for misconduct, left the job to get married, resigned due to some illness or even if you were involved in some labor dispute. Regular benefits, as already mentioned by Nelly, will be available till 26 weeks (in most states) and there will be extended benefits during times of high unemployment.

Extended unemployment benefits may be available for a maximum of 13 weeks (starting from the 26th week) to the eligible unemployed workers during a period of high unemployment rate. You may also check with the State Unemployment Office to know more about the benefits that you're entitled to receive
