This week we were able to catch up Jeff Rickard, Publisher/Editor at 1760mortgageguide.com. His blog covers lending business, real estate, banking and other mortgage related topics. We discovered this blog while browsing through some mortgage related blogs. He says, "I like what I am doing with the blog but am always amazed how it continues to evolve. It has been great for me and ...".

Here is a complete interview with Jeff.

Please tell our readers something about yourself?
I have been in the mortgage business for ten years specializing in first time home buyers or “first time” understanding the mortgage process clients. What do I mean by that? I take the time to make sure borrowers understand and are exposed to all the products available to them and that they are comfortable with their mortgage choice. I also make it a point to answer ALL their questions and make sure they never feel that they are a bother or a source of frustration. Sounds simple but I am amazed how poor the level of communication is in the mortgage business and how many people got a mortgage and have no idea what they have. Oh and by the way I like to laugh! I have been rich, poor, good credit, bad credit, divorced, remarried, step kids, my own kids, fired and hired, but always keep smiling.

Since when are you Blogging?
I started my own blog in August of 2007.

What is your motivation behind this blog?
I went to a Real Estate Tech convention last year in San Francisco. While I was there I saw the future of the real estate world and realized that understanding and creating my own blog would give me a tool to help my Realtor partners in the future. I also saw how I could be involved on an ongoing basis with current and past clients and that I could have a forum to speak out against the crap that happens in my industry.

What topics do you explore in this blog?
It started out as a site that I could answer mortgage questions that I had been asked a thousand times. It then quickly moved into discussing real estate issues, credit issues, restaurant reviews and commentary on mortgage nonsense. I then recently began Motivation Monday that is sales skills and motivational material. I love to try and help people be successful.

What are your future-plans with this blog?
I like what I am doing with the blog but am always amazed how it continues to evolve. It has been great for me and my business and so I look forward to the future……..whatever that is!

What are the sites and blogs you browse often?
I am very involved in helping others find their voice in the blogosphere so I am on a lot of real estate blogs.

Would you please share something for people who are in debt?
Being in debt or having bad credit limits the options you have. Having no options or limited options is a very lonely place to be. I have been there and the key to getting out of that situation is to gain control of spending. Easier said than done. If I had a bad day the best pick me up was to buy something. The best way to get out of that cycle is to find something constructive that you can become passionate about, if that can be your job then you are very lucky!

Would you like to say something to our community members?
getting out of debt and repairing your credit can be very hard to do but when you have completed the task everything in life seems easier and less stressful. It is a nice place to be, but like dieting, we may have to do it several times in our lives.
