Please tell our readers something about yourself?
I am in my early thirties, married with three young children. I have a wide range of interests – I am a soccer coach, I enjoy marketing, I am a youth pastor, songleader, roofer and wood finisher. My perfect scenario would be if I were able to support my family as a full-time soccer coach.
Do you have any email id on which our readers can reach you?
I will be happy to respond to questions at rocketfinance(at)gmail.com
Since when are you Blogging?
I have been a blogger since early 2006, however, I have only been a personal finance blogger since June of 2007. I am also starting a blog on the topic of leadership. I will be unveiling it very soon.
What is your motivation behind this blog?
Huh. Good question. I'm not sure how honest I should be. J The bottom line is that I started it to try to generate another stream of income that would not require me to be out of the house. However, even though the income has been almost nonexistent, I plan to keep the blog for a long time. I enjoy it, I learn a lot and helps to keep me accountable in my own personal finance.
What topics do you explore in this blog?
I have interests in many areas, but the things on which I focus are bank and credit card bonuses, kids and money, politics and personal finance and coffee. You may see a few posts off of those topics once in a while, but they are my "bread and butter".
What are your future-plans with this blog?
I plan to have regular posts about my children and their growing knowledge in the area of money. I am also considering starting a new blog network soon. I would also like to develop a readership that comes for the coffee angle – free coffee, coffee reviews, etc.
What are the sites and blogs you browse often?
Free Money Finance, Five Cent Nickel, Hustler Money Blog, Moolanomy, On Financial Success, Plonkee Money, Drudge Report – all the sites in my blog roll. I also check FatWallet, Ebates and Slickdeals daily.
Would you please share something for people who are in debt?
Boy, it isn't easy being in a large amount of debt – especially when you care about it. I see people all the time who simply don't care about debt. As long as they make the minimum payment, they show no concern about how much money they are spending. Sometimes, the hardest part about debt is in paying all the money to creditors, all the while knowing that you are still far from breaking even.
Keep working hard, once you get to a certain point, your debts will start to disappear more and more easily. Pay off the little ones and then use that money to pay extra principal in your bigger debts.
