One of my New Year's resolution was to get most of my dental problems fixed this year. So far I've had my wisdom teeth pulled and my cavities fixed, and a new bridge so I feel a lot better about that. Now I'm to the point where I can think about more cosmetic things for my teeth, and I needed recommendations for teeth whitening products. Right now I am looking for products under $50. My teeth aren't badly stained, and I don't smoke, drink much soda, or am a non coffee drinker, so I don't think I need something too super duty, but I do need something effective.

I have never used any of them but I need to. I have heard mixed reviews on at home kits but I think I have heard the Crest white strips are good. If you watch for coupons, I have seen like $10 or $11 off sometimes! Let me know what you decide to use because I want to get some too. I smoked for a long time so my teeth are not as white as I wish they were.

my friend is a dentist in arizona, my husband had the zoom treatment, she only charged him $200.00, since that is what the kit cost her, but I think that she normally charges her patients like $700 to $900. Anyway, she told me that the crest vivid toothpaste is a great product, I think it's called crest night effects is one of them, I can't remember what the other one that crest uses, it's like almost $4.00 a tube but it does work!

I tried the Crest White strips and they didn't work for me. Then I tried the Colgate paint on kind and it didn't work any better.

I have a few friends who did the Crest White strips and their results were dramatic.

A friend of mine in the dental industry said that it depends on what type of teeth you have. There are differences in teeth and what may work well on some won't necessarily get the same results on others.

Good luck!

My mother uses the Crest White Strips. She also uses the whitening toothpaste. She had her whitened at the dentist's office a few years ago (to the tune of about $400! Hello!). She's got beautiful teeth. So maybe a combination of the Crest White Strips and the whitening toothpaste would do good.

I know for a fact it has a lot to do with your teeth and what's been done to them in the past. When I was a child, I was sick a LOT...and I was constantly on antibiotics. My dentist has told me that no whitening product on earth was going to get my teeth extremely white, because the antibiotics stained the pulp inside my teeth...so no exterior whitening is going to work. They're not terribly yellow...but not exactly white either.

You must have been on tetracycline or minacycline Sue. I was on a medical study for MS one year ago that involved a weekly shot of Avonex and twice daily minocycle for a year, it did a number on my teeth, stained them and also my skin turned tan, I looked suntanned, that part of it wasn't bad but the teeth part really sucked. I am off of that medical study now and have been for a year and a half and my teeth have returned to the color they were before which wasn't white, white because I smoke but did use the vivid white toothpaste that she advised and that helped tremendously. It is kind of pricy but comapared to the zoom treatment it is alot financially more affordable. If you have a friend who is a dentist you can get it cheaper than at the store.
