Planning a trip to Asia, but I am concerned about stealing of identity. How can I keep personal information safe? Please guide.

Do not use public computers or public wi-fi connection for online financial transactions. Also, do not give out much personal details in the social media and give passwords that are difficult to guess.

If possible, "Unpack" critical documents before you leave home. Your social security card, bank statements, medical documents, checkbook. etc might get mishandled by the crooks if any how they get their hands on your baggages.

As "SC" said earlier, use cash instead of credit cards, and use only bank ATM's .

Never log in to your account using any unknown person's phone or computer. Don't give your debit card to the waiter for paying the bill. Keep enough cash as well.
