I just had my initial consultation with Superior debt services inc. The guy was cordial but when I mentioned consolidation he said he didn't know what I was really talking about and insisted on settling. I haven't made a payment in 6 months so he says I'm a good candidate for settlement since they may get nothing if it continues to drag out. He says they can get a 50%+ ($8000+) reduction but it will cost me 15%, that's $2500 plus I'll be taxed on the $8000 by the IRS for another $2000. It looks like I'll only end up saving about $3000 total and it will be a negative on my record for 7 years. Should I try another company or should I insist on consolidation instead. I've got a ton of late fees and overcharges. Do these companies charge 15% for consolidation too? Thanks for the help

Hi

Welcome to the forums. You might have gathered some idea about the settlement program. Now you might be interested in knowing deeply about the consolidation program.

Please have a look at this thread to know the difference between the two program and then decide the fair deal.

I will recommend consolidation as it is the most popular method of clearing the debt related problems. Consultants charge a very nominal fee that will be told to be you before the program begins.
