It didn't say anything about going to court but it says that I need to contact the lawer in 20 days? What do I do? Will I have to go to court. This is for a Credit card and the balance is 1700.00. What can they do to me I have no money I am on Dissability I don't own anything in my name? Can I go to jail. What do I need to do now I'm worried.

Hi Kammie

Welcome to the forums.

You may get the benefit of total or partial cancellation of the total amount of your debt depending on the kind of disability you are into. You can inquire about it in the consumer protection office in your state.

If you don't owe anything in your name, ask them to validate the debt under the fdcpa law. They are required to portray the actual details and depending on that, you need to make your payment arrangements.

Have you consulted any debt counselor for this purpose? I hope he will be able to tackle this situation carefully.

You can take a free consultation from the experts in this website.

Contacting the lawyers will do nothing but put more pressure on you. Check the state laws at the District Attorney office in Kentucky to know the reduction facilities in the total amount of your debt.

You might have to hire an attorney if you alone are not able to resolve it. But before that I will suggest you for counseling. You might not have to go that far.

The consultation in this website is free and the expert will help you in solving this problem.
