Hi, I got a letter from transunion today and it doesn't make sense to me, maybe just a standard letter to anyone who disputes.

It says:
Re:Explanation of different items on your credit report------
It tells me that I can add a statement of 100 words or less to my credit report

Then it tells me
Re: Policy for information retention
The fair credit reporting act allows:
then it goes on to say how long things can stay on your report, judgements, bankruptcies, etc.

Then:
Re: general policy

It askes about me using a credit repair company and includes a form I can fill out telling them who it is. blah blah blah

Is this standard? I disputed with them, they sent me a form and wanted me to fill it out with all my disputes, I did. today I get this. Its noting personal about me or anything I disputed, so wondered if it was standard info. shirley

Love the new pic too!

thank you!! :)

I just realized that I have something else to dispute them with. I paid my car loan off, on transunions report its still shows 'paying' as if the account is still active, the other two bureaus are showing 'paid as agreed'. Transunion doesn't seem like Equifax at all. They seem a little behind on things and its easy to get them to take stuff off and correct stuff. Equifax is harder. But Equifax is the one that most people pull from. I wish it were easier to get all three of them to report the same thing instead of disputing with each one separately. And like with me, you can get one to change something but then the other won't. And then Experian hasn't even responded to my disputes at all. The first time I mailed them, they were returned, so I found another address and I haven't heard anything from them.
If I don't hear something soon, I will go their site and either get my free one for this year or else purchase one and then dispute all over again that way.
Man, this is alot of work, but I know if I stick with it, it will pay off. Even if they can't remove stuff, maybe I can get some answers. shirley

I find Trans Union to be the slowest too. I think it depends on the area that you live in where companies pull credit inquiries from. This is what was told to me by a loan officer recently. They pull the most from Trans Union in my area. I couldn't understand why that report had so many more inquiries than the other two but now I understand. Dealing with Equifax is like pulling teeth sometimes LOL!

You're right about that! Transunion is really easy, Equifax is harder and I'm having no luck at all with Experian!!!!! Like I said, guess they will force me to purchase a report and then dispute. It will be like starting all over again! This takes a lot of work! guess it will all pay off in the long run. shirley

According to the press release, all the three credit bureaus will be using more advance methods to ensure security to the sensitive consumer's data. It will be done by using a single standard of encryption and the data will be reported to Equifax, Experian and/or TransUnion. This ongoing encryption task is adopted according to the standards that will reflect the advanced progress of technologies and methods.

The credit bureaus seem to use all advance methods to comply with the standards. But they are less interested towards working on the smaller avenues when a dispute is done. When a dispute is placed, they keep their results of investigation very short. If the consumers are facing similar problems, we should submit our suggestions to them so that some improvement can be done on the deprived avenues.

I disputed a false account on my credit report and transunion responded back that they don't provide verification and I would need to contact the creditor themselves. Is this another stall tactic? Should I just wait the 30 days and then send them the follow up letter? Thanks for all your help.
