I received a phone call from these people today. They told me they are holding two of my payday loan accounts. Well I also received a letter stating they only had one, and then I recieved a phone call before that saying they had three. What do I need to do? Also these are the accounts they took over from Ellis Crosby and I actually paid them $300.00 in all and I have my receipts. Advice please

Good, that you have kept the receipts intact. I have heard Accounts Receivable as the good people in collections. Read this post to know their nature while doing business.

If you show them the receipts of payments to Ellis Crosby, they will probably update your accounts as paid to the credit bureaus.

You are not sure about how many accounts the company is actually holding. In such a situation, you need to ask the company to give debt validation on any of the accounts they are authorized to collect. The legitimate accounts will be provided with complete details of the accounts and you can make further payment arrangements to it.

I spoke with the guy that called me earlier and told him I had my receipts and guess what all I had to do was fax them over there and get credit. So now I just have to pay the difference. He was really nice and understanding, also told me all about Ellis, but i told him I already knew about them. Thanks for the response

I had some payday loans which went default in Feb 05. I got calls from ECA regarding these loans. But I haven't heard from any other collector in recent days. I want to pay these loans back. Should I wait for AR to call me?

Harry is right, but one thing is for sure. You should not pay the money to Ellis Crosby as they have been barred from doing collections. If they force you to make payments, ask them to validate the debt. Without it, you won't pay a dime.

If they call you up, start recording the phone calls and inform that the call is being recorded and you wish to present it to your lawyer on charges of harassment.
