I spoke to a friend yesterday that has 10 PDL stores in TX and he stated that they are using the Atty General to collect some past due accounts. The process is for them to file with the AG that they have a Hot Check and the AG will then send a letter to the debtor stating that they need to resolve.

I realize that one cannot file charges on the debtor, but does anyone have more info on this process?

I bet you cannot guess where I am by my name,

I haven't heard this, but have a friend at the courthouse and will ask her what she knows...I am thinking that because most store front pdls around here use post dated checks rather than ach to collect, when one stops payment or closes the account it is considered a hot check and they can collect through the AG, but I know in other businesses I have worked for, it is a lot faster for them just to report it to the county attornies office and they do their hot check round up twice a year.
