You guys must have heard that Puerto Rican's voted to have their territorial status changed to statehood thereby becoming the 51st state in the roster.

I know that this has to go through the House and the Senate and it would also need Presidential approval and it is going to be a long drag.

My question is: What would it mean for the legal status of the illegal lenders which we generally write off as being offshore and therefore, illegal by proxy?

they still have to follow each states pdl laws.so it really doesn't matter, but it does mean they can't sell cuban cigars anymore.pity.

I think that if the loan sharks were using Puerto Rico because they were not under total US law. If Puerto Rico is made a state then these shills will move to a different area.

On the gun issue. It is not the gun that is dangerous, it is the one holding it. I personally don't have a gun because I have no knowledge of gun safety. My brother is paying for a gun safety course and giving me one of his small hand guns for my protection for Christmas. I am not sure what it is but I have had mail stolen from my home by drug addicts so he is worried about my safety.

Everyone who wants, or already has a gun should be trained in safety. Your brother is very smart to make you do the safety class.

Puerto Rico, as you sort of said, does not have to follow certain US federal laws. I do not believe full faith and credit applies to them, for example. But again I do not know of illegals operating out of Puerto Rico. It's either British Overseas Territories, British commonwealth realms, or just random islands.

A few years ago some black market arms dealer airdropped a crate full of guns in the middle of Congo to arm some rebel camp or something. Well, they must have got the co-ordinates wrong because monkeys found the box and a few shot themselves. All lifetime NRA members I believe. :P

Another Blue gun nut here :P Picked it up from my grandpa as well. I got a Army Colt 1911, a S&W 625 and a Winchester 1873 which I inherited. Although not the prettiest gun in the world, I really really really want a FN 5&7. The accuracy is just crazy.

You have a CCW permit? I finished my training and certification but left the country before I got the permit. Looks like I will have to reapply :x
