I am 2 weeks late but citi has been calling 10 times a day. I have been letting the calls go to voicemail and it's a recording asking me to contact them regarding my acct.Should I call or continue to ignore? I have been current in everything till 2 weeks ago when I had no choice but to let some bills go unpaid. I have been struggling for the past year getting by paying min payments and charging gas to my cr cards. Now my cards are all but maxed and I have more going out than coming in. What should I do? Wife lost her job and still waiting for unemployment to kick in. Have 2 kids, 1 that needs diapers and formula. Refrigerator is empty. Advise plz. Thx.
I have about 35,000 in cr card debt. Currently behind with citi, bank of America, cabelas visa and chase. These are 2 weeks late, but just don't have the money to pay.
Which banks are going to be easier to settle?

Forgot about asking how long I will have to let these accts go delinquent before they will settle?
I own my home... Any risks with not paying on these accts ?

while you are getting ohiogal's info she requested,i have questions.

1)are you concerned about your credit?

2)you said you are only two weeks late.is that on all cards?

you see if you try settlement.the cc companies won't even talk about that until you are 60-90days late.then your credit is in the dumps.i would look into hardship plans before going the settlement route.JMHO.

Paul...
1) I am concerned about my credit, but understand my score is already going down due to high debt to income ratio and late payments.
2) citi, cabelas and chase are currently 2-3 weeks behind. Payments were due mid June.
Would it be best to try to only let one card go delinquent and try to settle while keeping others current?

The problem with that plan is, where will you get the money to settle?

If you don't have enough to make minimum payments now, stopping paying 1, won't give you enough in 90-120 days to settle with.

Have you asked about a hardship plan from your lenders?

What are your other monthly expenses? How much money do you bring home monthly?

Well calling citi didnt help much yet. They couldn't lower my rate. They only offered 3 months at $ 241 per month to get me back to current, right now i owe $ 347.88 by july 13. They told me to call back july 17 for there may be more options available for me then. This my first time being late, member since 1999 , hope they can do better when I call back. I can really only afford $ 50-100 per month

Hello,

I work for a CC company... just a disclosure. It's not one you owe money to though. Here's what I would do if I were you - I have some phone numbers that those of us in the industry have access to. I have sent the numbers for each of the companies in a PM to you. You will reach executive resolution teams through these numbers... tell them of your situation. Tell them you have kids, housing payments to make, and that you lost your job. Tell them you are going to be on unemployment and you are going to do everything you can to pay off your credit card balances but you need hardship until you can get a new job and get back on your feet. The people on the lines I sent you will 99% of the time help you out. Offer each 50-75 bucks a month.

Good luck, sorry to hear about your misfortunes.
