I read the thread and my gut feeling is that she's full of it, but we shall see. First off, the legal PDL limit in California is $300, not $1000 (trust, me, I know this one :twisted: ) so I think that's twisted--and if the manager is making her sleep with him, she needs to report him. I think this whole thread is very twisted, but who knows?

I was tempted to lock it right from the get go. In fact, on the very first page I warned her that I would lock it.

I don't mean to sound cold, but, it does seem fishy to me, but, ya never know. So, we will just have to wait and see how this plays out, or not. :?

I'm leaning towards it NOT being true - the one thing that really struck me as odd was the child's name - Tijuana - I know there are odd names out there for kids, depending on the culture....but....

Like I said, there IS a Fullerton, CA, and there IS a Fullerton Pawn there, and there IS riverboat gambling there - but that doesn't prove anything. I've asked her to provide the state and general location of that state where she lives - she has yet to do that.

I'm assuming that Fullerton is in Ca.? I honestly hope this is a fabricated story, I hate to even think of a child being in the hands of someone that irresponsible. :?

Call me a skeptic, but I've seen so many stories on this site of hard times that turned out to be completely bogus - remember Beauty, who claimed to have lost her job at a collection agency for posting on this site, and then proceeded to try and get member's personal phone numbers so they could help her? (She started out claiming to have had to turn to prostitution to pay her rent, sleeping with the landlord...then all of a sudden she turned into a collection agent?)

And a certain member who claimed that both Charles Manson and Brian David Mitchell had been a part of her life while she was young - and that she lived under a bridge, etc.

While those stories were both a LOT less believeable than this one, they have some of the same characteristics, which makes me tend to be distrustful of them.

Sue, you and the rest are nice because I would have locked it down based on drama long ago.

I'm all for giving someone the benefit of the doubt, Cajun, but it only goes so far....I'm really not thinking this one is true - especially after she said "you people are too stupid to help, you can't even read". Not exactly the words of someone in desperate need of help.

Lock it down, or delete the entire thread and have done with it.

So does everyone think it should be locked, then? If we have a consensus, I'll go ahead and take care of it.

No. We can't lock it based on speculation. There has been nothing that merits a lock. If it is locked now it just justifies the accusations that we lock something we don't agree with. We need to wait.

I'll leave it up to a watch, then, until we see further action on it. I haven't seen any further activity on it by the OP. I'm thinking she may have disappeared, because she was following it pretty closely and responding up until the threat to lock the thread was made - then she stopped responding.

ok....she says she's from Illinois, not CA, as we had thought.

There is a Fullerton, Illinois, and there is a Fullerton Pawners in Fullerton, IL. There is also riverboat gambling in Illinois.

Just a note, I had to PM one of the members posting to the LaTonia thread, letting them know I wasn't trying to be mean by repeating my questions - I was trying to give this OP a chance to prove herself and to give us a little more insight into whether this is true or not, by asking her (twice now) what her plans are, since we've given her advice on how to handle the situation.

llw has responded FOR the OP, saying they hope she gets the help she needs...not what I'm looking for ....I'm looking for the OP to come back with a response.

This still sounds like something out of a soap opera! Remember the thread a looong time ago about an amputee who had so many gambling debts he had to hock his artificial leg? That's what this sounds like.
