Hi, lemme share a secret tip with you all regarding shifting a thread (and, please, forgive me not sharing it with you for this long:D ).

Many a times you may have faced problems in moving threads from one particular forum to another, which is more appropriate destination for it. Now here is my recipe for an effective thread move.

    1. Click on the moderate this forum link at the end of the forum page, which becomes live when a moderator signs in.

    2. Select the title of the post from the moderator’s panel by checking the box available at the right hand side of the page.

    3. Click on the move button.

    4. Select the appropriate forum head.

    5. Un-check the ‘Leave shadow topic in old forum’ button, which remains checked by default for an effective shift.

The leave a shadow button, if remains checked, will leave an impression of the topic in the old forum, which may create a confusion amongst the members as the link will not direct them to the shifted post. It may also confuse the original poster as he/she may think that his/her post has been removed from the board. Therefore, from-now-on, please remember to un-check the leave a shadow button whenever you’re shifting a thread .

Hope you guys are not mad at me right now

Regards,
Jason

Hmmmm well, I am the first to admit that I leave "the shadow" thread, simply because I thought it was necessary so the poster could locate his/her thread. I didn't realize it left a dead thread link. So, thanks for the info, as I have been oblivious to that particular bit of info. :D

Oh and, sure sure Jason, I am SO mad at you, NOT!!!!
Thank you. :)
I thought you were supposed to leave the shadow checked!!
I usually leave a shadow post when I move a topic to get better exposure, etc. As, ferinstance, moving a PDL thread out of the Pub into the PDL board.

I don't leave a shadow thread when I want something to just quietly disappear. As in, moving an abusive/obnoxious thread from DebtCon to this board. No fanfare or argument, just gone without a trace...
