This guy is billing himself as an "Authority On Credit" in his sig line He also has active links in his sig, one of which is to his credit site and the other to a free game site that just looks fishy to me. The credit site is nothing but a collection of affiliate links, some of which look decidedly shady to me. He's got the same site linked in his profile.
The other problem is that he's spreading some really bad advice. Check message #2 in this thread for a representative sample. I have left warning remarks in some of his posts to prevent users from falling for his advice. I then posted good advice immediately after.
The question at hand is what to do about the links in his sig. That they're in violation of ToS is a given. But I can't moderate a sig. Do y'all want to send him a notice, or should I? Either is fine with me.

Even if someone does give bad advice it doesn't mean we do on the red alert and start editing. It just means we should continue to post in their threads and possibly even making a whole new topic to warn others that that particular person gives bad advice and to take it worth a grain of salt.
I didn't see the signature but I did read the post. What did you edit out? Because honestly that advice isn't completely terrible. It has some flaws but there has been a lot worse.

FYI, if I've managed to hurt this guy's very last feeling, I'm real damn sorry. FWIW, I edited nothing out. Just added a red-letter warning against buying what he was selling. Sorry you missed his sig, too. Soaplady edited that from his posts. A matter of multiple violations of ToS [sections 6, 7, and 16]. As I said in my initial post in this thread:
This guy is billing himself as an "Authority On Credit" in his sig line
Authority, my hairy Wulfish ass! What this guy was, was a scam looking for a place to happen. We just made certain that it didn't happen here. I love this place, and I don't want anybody to have a valid reason to say that they got scammed in our community. There's been entirely to much of that already, thanks. And look what it's done to the site. When I trackback the links to his site, I find lots of self-promotion sites, search-engine-ranking boosters, and post-your-articles-for free sites, but not one single link from a 'credible' site like budhibbs. Wonder why?

That the guy was a scammer is also borne out by the credit site he was promoting. The sig is gone, but the site's still linked to his www button. It's nothing more than a bunch of affiliate links. Even if it were good stuff, he can't advertise it here, per section 7 of the ToS. I was actually really easy on him by just red-lettering a couple of his posts and correcting his mistakes, rather than deleting them outright per section 7.
Now, let's look at what he said in the thread I linked in here: We had an OP facing a crisis situation due to multiple illegal PDLs, threatened with lock time, etc. His advice: Send them a CD letter, wait for the bank to charge them off, and save for a settlement offer. Care to speculate on the probable outcome of that course of action?
Look, I know I can be a bit rough around the edges. But that's part of why I was brought into this position: I take no crap, and I call it like I see it. I believe the term used was "designated bouncer." When I see somebody posting crap like this that's only gonna make the problem worse by orders of magnnitude, I will not let it stand.
Respect -
Wulf

It's all good, FYI. I wasn't meanin' to rip a strip offa you. Hope you didn't take it that way.
I just happened to be on when he was. I checked all of his posts before I acted, and didn't mess with the couple that were actually trying to help. But this is the way I see it: New person finds us while in a panic due to illegal IPDL harrassment. Sees crap advice posted over a byline that proclaims "Authority on Credit', and grabs for it. Not a happy scenario...
We all have times when we can't be on as much as we'd like. I take the occasional week or few off to attend to life, earn a living, all like that. But we all help where we can.
