Finally...got a good full time job! Naples is horrible for employment unless you want to work retail or service industry. This is a resort town. Tomorrow I start with the State of Florida, Department of Revenue, Child Support Enforcement!!! Closest thing I could find with my collections/student loan skill set. I have been testing and interviewing for over a year and FINALLY made it!!!!!!!!!! It has been a long haul this year...I had to quit a job in February when my daughter had surgery on both of her legs. Since May I have been been working overnights looking after a 99 year old lady....it sucked but it was an income. She has been hospitalized for the past two weeks so my income took a major hit this month but at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I also am doing a farmers Market on saturdays. I have been importing Vanilla beans for years and this summer Naples Vanilla Company was born. I sell extracts that I make and Madagascar and Tahitian Vanilla Beans. $10 for 10 beans as opposed to the $4 each you will pay in the grocery store. In October my soap and candles will join in...so if you love vanilla, pm me!!!!!!!!!!

That's great to hear, congrats soaplady!

It's interesting that you mention Madagascar vanilla.... A long time I used to work for an ice cream manufacturer, and that Madagascar extract was one of our "special" ingredients. At the time I worked there, I remember we had to raise prices because there were storms that destroyed a lot of the vanilla crops, and we were having to pay something like $1000/gallon of extract.

WOW!! My gallon price is around $200!!! And I use way more than the industry standard of 13 ounces of beans per gallon!!

Mexican beans prices are insane right now. I like to work directly with small plantations and I just havent found that Mexican connection yet. Beans from Uganda I hear are incredible and I might have a source for those.

Congrats soaplady, great to hear. That's a good place to apply your collections skillset, i.e. child support enforcement. I quit the financial services industry and went into what I actually wanted to do. A little less money but within the next 3 years will be more than I had been making at capital one.
