I want to clean my credit and purchase a house

i recently had a credit report done and i would like to clean my credit up and eventually in the future purchase a house, i have a a question regarding a car loan, i basically returned the car to the dealer, not knowing what to do, and i no longer have that vehicle i understand i responsible for the loan, but i would like to obtain the car back maybe to sell and cut my loan/debt amount back some can this be done..
