My name is Shavonne Austin and I am 20 years of age and I need help. First it started out with just my student loan which right now because of rate increases and such I owe them 30,000 dollars then I found an internet job that I thought was legit but was not,I am now after a whole bunch of problems have been told that it is called then Nigerian scam. I cashed money orders into my bank account. About three weeks after I cashed the money orders I found out that they were counterfeit which was a suprise to me because I had no idea that money orders could be forged. The total sum for that is 13,000 dollars. The bank is threatening to take me to court and have my wages garnished if I do not pay them 1000 dollars a month until it is payed off but this creates a problem because I right now don't make a 1000 a month in fact I make less than that. I am trying to find a second job but living in Las Vegas it is very difficult to get jobs if your not over twenty-one. As well as I do have other bills that I need to maintain such as car insurance computer-$600 to pay off gas for my car-$100 plus dollars a month telephone and food and water I don't spend money on clothes because I can't afford it and my debt is increaseing because the bank has frozen my account my credit score is now none existent and was a 700 please help me.

Hi bonkers200311, I am sorry to hear about your problems. Do you have something of very least importance that you can trade off? You will get some money to pay towards this debt with the bank. Besides, you will be able to convince them also with your advance money that you will make payments in the future also upon getting a good job. The bank will get a case very easily so give them most of your attention. Talk with them regularly so that they understand your problems and do some arrangements for you.

I am sorry to hear of your troubles. I echo what Bossy said above. Until you are 21 and can get a better paying job in Vegas, you will definitely need to bite the bullet and get some type of job in fastfood or retail. This is the big season (holiday)coming up for retail, as you probably know and they usually start hiring about September. Good Luck!

Shavonne, what was done to you and what is being done to you is very wrong. It is easy to fall into a trap when the trap is labeled "job security" or "financial security". You did the best you can. I understand desperate times and desperate measures just as well as anybody, though I've worked as a collector.

I think what your bank is doing is very wrong. They should be helping you find and prosecute those truly responsible instead of trying to clean you out for a crime you never committed.
